The Use of OSIS in Container Terminals

The Container Terminal is a hub in the network of many varied transport chains, for this reason the high volume of data exchanged between the terminal and all the parties involved in the container transport is complex and varied.

OSIS offers a ready prepared solution for the data exchange between the internal terminal operating application and partners´ IT systems, for example the transport companies, agents, ship operators, trucking and rail companies, other terminals, harbour authorities, and customs. In the majority of cases the messages are sent using the EDIFACT standard, in the case of a local harbour communication network (Port Community System), the individual harbour message types of this network are used, too.

The message packet includes, but is not limited to, the EDIFACT messages relevant for the shipping and container transport industry such as BAPLIE, CALINF, COARRI, CODECO, COEDOR, COPARN, COPINO, COPRAR, COREOR, INVOIC, MOVINS, REMADV, VESDEP. Additionally ready prepared solutions also exist for the interface to some terminal application software and to some harbour communication systems, Bremen / Bremerhaven (dbh Logistics IT AG), Hamburg (DAKOSY AG), for the communication with the harbour authorities and customs.

Where necessary OSIS can be individually configured with relatively low costs and in short time periods to create interfaces for any internal or external systems in addition to the standard solutions mentioned above.
